About MMPA

Mission

Mode Music and Performing Arts is a nonprofit arts organization offering innovative arts education programs promoting confidence, social awareness, equity and empathy in our students and community.

Vision

Mode Music and Performing Arts envisions a future where children’s voices lead the way in creating a better community through art and expression. We seek to empower youth to thrive, fearlessly lead, and adapt to an ever-changing world.

History

MMPA was created to address disparities in arts education. As public schools lost arts funding, a shift felt especially by Title I schools, our local students were losing access to arts education. Our founder, Erin Rubin, established MMPA to partner with public schools whose arts program funding had been reduced or eliminated, and to provide innovative performing arts programs with free and discounted pricing options. As MMPA grew, we expanded to provide a wide array of music and performing arts classes and camps accessible to all of Seattle’s kids. These programs are offered on a pay-what-you-can basis, so that they are widely accessible for all.

What We Offer

Mode Music and Performing Arts brings accessible arts education to Seattle's kids, through school programs, group classes and camps at our West Seattle studio, and private music lesson scholarships for instruction at Mode Music Studios.

  • Pay-what-you-can group classes are offered throughout the school year with music, dance, and theatre options, including Ukulele 101, Drama Club, and Broadway Dance Party.

  • Pay-what-you-can summer camps provide an immersive arts experience with offerings like Fairytale Play Creation, Improv Workshop, and Music Around the World.

  • After-school enrichment programs and in-school partnerships bring the arts into schools, with free and discounted after-school classes provided for Title I schools.

  • Private music lesson scholarships are offered to students through our scholarship program, which helps students access private music instruction at Mode Music Studios in their chosen instrument.
